Richard Heinberg's new book The End of Growth rounds up all the usual subjects in the first five chapters. We get a very brief education in economics then he dives right into banking and bubbles, earth's limits, innovation, and what he calls the shrinking pie. As he mentions all this has been written about over and over, however Richard does a very nice job at filling in the gaps and explaining the supports in each of the major events he brings our attention to. All of this brings us to chapters 6 and 7 where the brilliance of the book shines like a clear spring morning. I can't say happy reading but I can say his words are get up and meet you neighbor inspiring, help him or her maybe even before they have to ask! Richard is coming to SUNY Albany March 27th thanks to all the sponsors. Jerry Byrd
