There is a Buy Local movement in food but what is there in manufacturing?

That’s a good question.

One way is to go to a manufacturers web site to find out if they have any information about their process.

The manufacturers that use green methods will usually advertise the fact.

Buying locally for manufacturing is pretty tough considering the limits of the goods that are manufactured locally.

I think one has to look at the entire chain of events for a product -

How it’s manufactured, How it’s shipped How it’s distributed, How it’s installed, How it’s used and How it’s disposed of.
